Prediction Markets Price 58% Odds Anthropic Restores Fable 5 Access by July 1

Traders on prediction market platform Kalshi are pricing a 58% probability that Anthropic will restore public access to its Fable 5 model before July 1, CNBC reported on Tuesday. On Polymarket, the odds are higher: 67% by the same deadline.

The bullish pricing stands in contrast to the hardline posture from the Commerce Department. Anthropic disabled access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 on June 13 after the U.S. government ordered the company to suspend access for any foreign national, whether inside or outside the country. To ensure compliance, Anthropic shut off the models for all customers.

Kalshi traders also place 74% odds that access returns by July 10, according to CNBC. For the contracts to resolve to “yes,” general access to the model must be restored to U.S. customers.

The Negotiation Signal

The market optimism follows Anthropic’s reported meeting with Trump administration officials on Monday. No details of the meeting have been disclosed, and it is unclear whether it yielded any progress.

The meeting came after Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick sent a formal letter to Anthropic threatening criminal and civil penalties if the company grants foreign nationals access to advanced AI models without government permission. NCT covered that escalation on Monday.

Pricing Against Rhetoric

Prediction markets are pricing a disconnect between the administration’s public rhetoric and the likely outcome. Lutnick’s letter signals enforcement. The market pricing signals that traders expect a negotiated resolution rather than prolonged restriction.

The decision to disable Fable 5 arrived just days after Anthropic announced the model. Anthropic previously clashed with the Trump administration when the Department of Defense labeled the company a supply chain risk in March.
