Anthropic has begun hiring in Singapore for what would be its first office in Southeast Asia. The company’s careers page listed four positions on June 4 covering Asia-Pacific accounting, product support, and economic research, according to The Straits Times.
Business registration portal Bizfile shows that an entity named Anthropic PBC Asia Pacific was incorporated on May 20 at 133 Devonshire Road in Singapore. Anthropic declined to comment on its office plans when contacted by The Straits Times.
The Roles
The four advertised positions signal an operational hub rather than a research lab. The most senior role is Asia-Pacific head of accounting, tasked with building and running Anthropic’s regional corporate accounting function across multiple APAC locations. The position reports to the head of international accounting in Dublin.
Two product support specialist roles will focus on becoming experts across Anthropic’s product range and providing direct user support. The fourth position, a regional research economist, will work with governments, academics, and industry partners to measure AI’s economic effects and explore research-driven policy interventions. That role requires a PhD in economics and Python proficiency, with a salary range of $307,200 to $331,200 SGD annually including commissions, per The Straits Times. All Singapore-based staff are expected to work from an office at least 25% of the time.
GIC Connection and Funding Context
Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC is one of Anthropic’s major financial backers. GIC first invested in September 2025 as part of a $13 billion round, then led a $30 billion Series G in February 2026. A subsequent Series H round pushed Anthropic’s valuation to $965 billion, surpassing OpenAI’s $852 billion, as VOI reported.
The GIC relationship provides a natural anchor for Anthropic’s APAC operations. Singapore already hosts offices for OpenAI, which committed $300 million to boost AI skills in the country, and Google DeepMind, which maintains a research lab there.
Why It Matters for Agent Infrastructure
Anthropic now has 12 offices globally, including in Japan, South Korea, India, and Australia. Singapore adds a hub in a region where financial institutions have been actively evaluating Claude and its Mythos cybersecurity agent. Following the Mythos Preview controversy in April, Singapore’s Monetary Authority convened major financial institution CEOs to discuss collective cybersecurity measures against advanced AI models. Having product support staff and a policy-focused economist on the ground positions Anthropic to engage directly with APAC regulators and enterprise buyers as its agent capabilities expand into new markets.
