Tai TMS, a transportation management system for freight brokers, released its Track & Trace Agent on April 13, according to a company announcement. The autonomous AI voice agent calls drivers, collects real-time shipment data, and writes the results back into the TMS. No human touches the process.
The agent pulls active loads from Tai, places outbound calls via CloneOps.ai, and captures driver location, ETA, on-time versus late status, and delivery confirmation. When a shipment is delivered, it updates the load record and advances the status from “In Transit” to “Delivered” automatically. Appointment times adjust as conditions change. Brokers set the call frequency per load. The agent operates 24/7 and supports multiple languages.
Why Check Calls Matter
Check calls, the manual process of phoning drivers to confirm shipment status, are among the most repetitive tasks in freight brokerage. A single broker managing dozens of active loads can spend hours per day on calls that produce the same information every time: location, ETA, and whether the delivery is on schedule.
“Check calls are one of the most time-consuming and repetitive tasks in freight brokerage, and they don’t have to be,” CEO Walter “Mitch” Mitchell said in the announcement. “Our customers can focus on revenue-generating tasks instead of repetitive manual tasks like check calls.”
The Embedded Agent Pattern
The Track & Trace Agent is notable for how it ships: bundled into the existing TMS platform at no additional cost, rather than sold as a standalone product or premium add-on. Tai frames this as table-stakes functionality, not upsell. The agent extends an in-platform communication suite that already includes SMS, email, and integrations with third-party visibility platforms. All interactions log to the load record, centralizing data across dispatch, accounting, and compliance.
Chief Product Officer Daniel Ely positioned the agent as part of a broader roadmap. “The Track & Trace Agent is the first in a growing suite of AI agents Tai plans to bring to market, each designed to automate the manual, repetitive work that holds brokerages back from scaling,” per the announcement.
Tai TMS, based in Huntington Beach, California, claims over 500 tool integrations and 20 years of industry operations. Early access to the Track & Trace Agent is available now.
