Tencent Cloud announced ADP 4.0, the latest version of its Agent Development Platform, at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai on July 21. The release repositions ADP from a development tool into a full enterprise AgentOps platform covering agent building, system integration, distribution, and governance, according to the company’s official announcement.
Smart Desk and Claw Mode
ADP 4.0 introduces two headline features. Smart Desk is a unified entry point where employees can build agents using natural language. Setting up a knowledge-based Q&A assistant previously required configuring more than a dozen parameters manually. Smart Desk can now complete that configuration from a single sentence, with agents going live within minutes, according to Tencent Cloud. For multi-intent workflows like customer service routing, users describe the logic and the system generates the full flow: intent routing, knowledge-base Q&A, and human handoff.
Claw Mode is the second addition. It creates agents that autonomously write and run code in a cloud sandbox, call enterprise Skills, and execute long-running tasks. The mode targets complex problems that lack fixed rules and span long chains. Creators describe needs in natural language, and the platform generates prompts, mounts knowledge bases, configures tools, and orchestrates workflows. ADP 4.0 also supports two-way invocation between Agents and Workflows: deterministic processes handle rule-based steps, and Claw Mode agents take over when unstructured judgment is needed.
40 Connectors, 150+ Skills
The Connector framework ships with nearly 40 pre-built integrations covering CRM, ERP, ticketing, customer service, knowledge bases, and document systems. Supported SaaS applications include Google Workspace, Confluence, and Jira. Agents can directly read, retrieve, query, analyze, generate, and route through connected systems.
The Skills Marketplace now offers 150+ Skills. Business teams can package custom Skills into shared enterprise plugins that enter an enterprise zone after passing security checks and approval. More than 50 scenario-based templates are available, along with an upgraded Model Marketplace that supports leading international models and self-hosted models with native OpenAI protocol compatibility.
ADP 4.0 supports multiple deployment surfaces: the platform itself, browser extensions, Office integrations, chat channels (LINE, Telegram), and API/SDK access.
Deployment and Industry Coverage
Tencent Cloud ADP has been deployed across retail, finance, government, manufacturing, and other industries for intelligent Q&A, customer service, marketing content generation, and business analysis. The 4.0 release is available to customers worldwide.
The Competitive Landscape at WAIC
Tencent’s WAIC announcement puts ADP 4.0 into direct competition with AWS Bedrock, Google Cloud’s Agent Suite, and Azure AI Agent Service. Each of these platforms offers some combination of agent building, tool integration, and governance. What distinguishes ADP 4.0’s pitch is the emphasis on connecting all four lifecycle stages (build, connect, distribute, govern) in a single product rather than requiring enterprises to assemble capabilities across multiple services. Whether that integrated approach translates to faster enterprise adoption or becomes a walled-garden liability is the question the market will answer over the next 12 months.
